RWI Transportation, based in Wilder, Kentucky, is a nationwide transportation and logistics company that provides both refrigerated and dry services. We are a member of the Castellini Group of Companies, one of the largest distributors of fresh fruits and vegetables in the United States.

The Expedited Division utilizes 100 driver teams specializing in time sensitive freight moving between the Midwest and the West Coast. Our Regional Fleet is comprised of single drivers specializing in freight moving within the eastern half of the United States. The Logistics Division offers a variety of services including LTL and TL transportation, refrigerated warehousing, and dedicated services.

The RWI fleet consists of equipment with an average age of less than three years, the safest drivers in the industry, and satellite technology. We can support all types of web related transactions and have full EDI capabilities.

Freight is Lane based and Dedicated. Home time frequency will depend on the lane that you choose to run.

Pay will depend on the lanes that you choose to run.

Owner operators and Independant contractors can make upwards of $200,000 per year.

Independent contractors are legally required to establish certain insurance coverage. Lease and owner/operators may establish their own coverage or participate in programs offered by RWI Transportation. Our requirements? 

• 2001 or newer (1999/2000 depending on truck condition). 

• Maximum tractor weight cannot exceed 20,000 lbs. 

• Sliding 5th wheel. 

• Load locks and safety equipment. 

• Must provide this year’s Form 2290. 

• Must provide copy of tractor title. 

• Tractor must pass DOT inspection by our maintenance facility (at no charge to you).
 

LEASING/LICENSING CHECK LIST 
RWI must have all of the following: 
• COPY OF CAB CARD (in the case you have your own base plate) 
• TITLE AND/OR SIGNED AND DATED TYPED BILL OF SALE 
• PROOF OF PAYMENT OF FEDERAL HIGHWAY USE TAX (form 2290). If RWI is getting a base plate for you, this must be stamped copy that shows tractorís VIN number. Note: The name on the form must match ownerís name listed on title and/or bill of sale. If tractor is leased, a paper connection between the names listed on the various forms must be established. Ask about grace period on new tractor purchases. 
• PROOF OF BOBTAIL INSURANCE. If you’re not obtaining this through RWI, have your insurance agent issue a certificate of insurance which names RWI as Additional Insured with coverage of 41 million and shows expiration date. 
• CERTIFIED WEIGHT TICKET. This must be from a certified sale for each separate piece of equipment 
• COPY OF ANNUAL FEDERAL IN­SPECTION (last 30 days).

Our orientations are conducted at various locations initially; depending on where the driver lives.  Eventually the driver will finish up with us here in Wilder, Kentucky.  We typically have them bobtail to one of our terminals,  save the fuel receipts and we then reimburse them.  Sometimes we are able to get them to pick up a load and bring it into a terminal for orientation.  In that case we would overnight all the supplies and materials they would need to ready their truck and make it compliant with DOT regulations.  All the particulars are worked out before they start.  Sometimes depending on the situation, we may deviate from this process and accommodate a driver if needed.

We really do not have any set policy for this.  Our orientation usually lasts approximately 4 hours.  The driver gets to speak with all the departments here that they will be dealing with on a consistent basis and will meet their fleet manager.  They will also receive some video training.
